Meet Halo’s Newest Team Member: Our Robotic Dog with Global Reach

We’re excited to officially introduce the newest—and perhaps most futuristic—member of the Halo team: our robotic dog. Designed for mobile surveillance, perimeter protection, and high-tech engagement, this autonomous marvel has already made a name for itself on the international stage.

From Barcelona to Tallinn, our robotic companion has turned heads and sparked conversation at some of the most prestigious defence and technology showcases. It made its grand debut at the Barcelona Superyacht Show, drawing crowds with its sleek design, responsive movement, and integration with our advanced anti-drone systems. Security experts, yacht owners, and tech enthusiasts alike were captivated by its potential to enhance on-the-ground surveillance in luxury and high-security environments.

Next, it travelled to Tallinn, Estonia—a rising hub for defence innovation—where it continued to impress audiences with live demos, obstacle navigation, and threat simulation capabilities. Whether walking alongside our team or performing independently, the robotic dog embodied the future of ground-based security support.

More than just a showpiece, this robotic dog is a powerful tool in Halo’s growing ecosystem of defence technology. It works in harmony with our drone detection and neutralisation systems, offering real-time visual feedback, thermal imaging, and autonomous patrolling—all wrapped into a durable, field-ready platform.

As it continues to travel, assist, and evolve, our robotic dog isn’t just part of the Halo team—it’s a symbol of our commitment to innovation, adaptability, and global security leadership.

Follow its journey and see where it’s heading next—because this dog’s just getting started.

This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to connect with industry leaders, learn about emerging security trends, and see firsthand how Halo’s solutions are shaping the future of global defense.

The Growing Threat of GPS Navigation Disruption: Protecting Vessels with HSSD Halo Satellite Spoofing Detection

In recent years, the increasing reliance on GPS navigation systems has made vessels more vulnerable to remote cyberattacks. One of the most dangerous and elusive threats is GPS spoofing, a form of interference where attackers manipulate satellite signals to mislead a vessel’s navigation system. This type of attack is especially concerning because it is difficult to detect and can have catastrophic consequences on a vessel’s safety and operations.

To counter this rising threat, Halo Group Security has introduced the HSSD Halo Satellite Spoofing Detection System, a groundbreaking solution that provides real-time protection against GPS spoofing and other forms of satellite signal interference. The HSSD system is designed to continuously monitor and analyse GPS signals, detecting any anomalies or signs of malicious interference. Once an attack is detected, the system isolates the attack signals, preventing them from affecting the vessel’s critical navigation and time synchronisation systems.

By ensuring the integrity of GPS data, the HSSD system guarantees that vessels can maintain accurate and reliable navigation, even in hostile environments. Whether at sea or navigating through high-risk regions, this technology provides an added layer of security, allowing maritime operators to maintain course with confidence.

The HSSD Halo Spoofing Detection System not only protects against current GPS spoofing techniques but also adapts to evolving threats, ensuring long-term defence against emerging technologies. As the maritime industry faces increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, Halo Group Security remains at the forefront of developing solutions that safeguard the stability and safety of global shipping and marine operations.

With the launch of HSSD, Halo has taken a decisive step in defending against one of the most covert forms of attack in the modern maritime world, making it an essential tool for protecting vessels and critical infrastructure.

Halo attends Boats International Superyacht Design Festival in Cortina-Feb 2020.

Alan McCormick from Halo Group Security, attended the Boats International Design Festival in Italy, to discuss the new legislation affecting the Maritime Industry from the 1st April 2020.

The panel spoke as new IMO security regulations are set to come into force on January 1, 2021. These regulations will state that owners must provision for cyber security on board. It was also agreed that the industry needs to do more and called on designers and builders to implement cyber security into yachts right from the concept stage.

We work on all aspects of Security under our 360 Alliance and events like this are important in our core function to make it Maritime travel safer.

This even was well attended and looked at the imminent changes and challenges we face. We were able to work as a group of people from all walks of life that support and invest in the future of Maritime activities. Especially in the current climate, we look to support our families wherever you are in the World amidst the ‘lockdown’ we are all experiencing.

MYS2019 – CYBER WIFI ASSESSMENT

During the Monaco Yacht Show 2019, Halo’s Cyber partner conducted basic passive tests to gain a high-level view of the quality of WI-FI security controls implemented on the various yachts and security posture of the show itself.

Whilst wireless is only a small component of a yacht security, it is an area visible to people nearby and any potential attacker may be drawn to a vessel that appears to be less secured than others.

The team did not carry out any intrusive or in-depth testing as they would do under a formal penetration testing engagement, however they were able to glean interesting information about the security controls onboard by passively monitoring the airwaves.

Clients, owners, captains, crew and management companies were invited to attend a live hacking demonstration and presentation of the findings on the final day of the show. The team demonstrated how quickly they could gain complete uncontrolled access to multiple types of wireless, control and CCTV networks.

The Cyber consultants also explained (with practical examples) the best methods for reviewing and securing existing networks onboard, demonstrating the ease of use and immediate benefit of a decoy and deception system.

The tests were split into 2 sections:

  1. Review of the WI-FI and visible security systems protecting owners, crew, guest and automation, designed to highlight whether there are any obvious flaws that would allow unauthorised access.
  2. A fake deception system was deployed on the show WI-FI with enhanced monitoring of security activity. This was designed to highlight if anyone else is running any security reconnaissance and attempting to hack systems at the show.

NB: Privacy note – The test team did not specifically target any one vessel or include any data/screenshots highlighting the identification of vessels, onboard systems, crew or owners.
